About
Im Gethin, the senior planning officer at Gloucester City Council, has backed the plans on the grounds that the club would add "vitality and vibrancy" to the street. He said: "This application has been carefully assessed and it is considered that its determination cannot be based on moral issues because they are not planning matters. The club would be aimed at the gay community, as well as at people enjoying "alternative sexual lifestyles," the applicants said. The council has received three letters of objection after residents voiced concern about noise, and questioned whether the nature of the club was appropriate for the area. Pastor Colin Pavitt of the nearby Brunswick Baptist Church, declined to comment directly, but said: "My position is very simple, everyone needs to repent of sex in hotel rooms in gloucester sins and everyone is in need of Jesus.

St Mary de Crypt Church and the Greyfriars priory are on the opposite side of the street.
